In this paper, the concepts of firmly nonexpansive mappings and the resolvents of a set-valued vector field in the setting of a Hadamard manifold \(M\) are introduced and studied. The former is studied following consistently the definition given in the Hilbert ball by [\textit{K. Goebel} and \textit{S. Reich}, Uniform convexity, hyperbolic geometry, and nonexpansive mappings. Pure and Applied Mathematics 83. New York--Basel: Marcel Dekker (1984; Zbl 0537.46001)], and the latter coincides with the notion implicitly defined on Hilbert manifolds by \textit{T. Iwamiya} and \textit{H. Okochi} in [``Monotonicity, resolvents and Yosida approximations of operators on Hilbert manifolds'', Nonlinear Anal., Theory Methods Appl. 54, No.!2, A, 205--214 (2003; Zbl 1043.58001)]. The asymptotic behavior of the resolvent is studied and existence results for singularities of monotone vector fields and fixed points of continuous pseudo-contractive mappings are proved under certain boundary conditions. As an application, it is shown that the above result can be applied to obtain an iterative method for approximating a minimizer of a convex function defined on \(M\). More precisely, let \(f\) be a convex function on \(M\), let \(d(x, y)\) be the metric on \(M\), and let \(S\) be the solution set of the problem of finding \(\min_{x\in M} f (x)\). For any \(x\), the net of Moreau-Yosida regularizations \(R^{f}_\lambda (x) = \arg\min_{y\in M} \{\lambda f (x) + 1/2d^2 (x, y)\}\) converges to the projection on the solution set \(P_S (x)\) as \(\lambda \to \infty\).
