The one-dimensional equations are considered for heat conducting compressible viscous fluid motions in the zero mass force field. Large-time behavior of solutions is studied for the Cauchy problem as well as for the boundary-value problems in the domain \(x>0\) with the boundary conditions \(v=0,\) \(\theta _x =0\) (Problem I) or \(v=0\), \(\theta =1\) (Problem II), where \(v\) is the velocity and \(\theta\) the temperature. For Problem I, it is proved that \(v(t)\to 0\) in \(L^{2l}(0,k)\) and \(u(t)-\) \(u_1 (t)\) \(\to 0\) in \(L^2 (0,k)\) for any \(k>0\) and any integer \(l\geq 2\), where \(u\) stands for mass density and \(u_1 (t)\) stands for its mean value on the interval \(0<x<k\). For Problem II, it is proved that the functions \(v(t)\), \(\theta (t)-1\), and \(u(t)-\) \(u_1 (t)\) go to zero in \(H^1 (0,k)\) as \(t\to \infty\). For the Cauchy problem, it is proved that \(v(t)\to 0\) in \(L^{2l}(-k,k)\) and \(u(t)\to\) \(u_2 (t)\) in \(L^2 (-k,k)\) as \(t\to\) \(\infty\) where \(u_2 (t)\) is the mean value of \(u(t,x)\) on the interval \((-k,k)\). In the case of the Cauchy problem the assumptions are made that \(u_0\) and \(\theta _0\) are even functions and \(v_0\) is an odd function.
