Let \(\Omega\) be a Cantor group, and \(T\) a minimal translation of \(\Omega\), that is, \(T\omega=\omega+a\) for some \(a\in\Omega\), and the \(T\)-orbit of every \(\omega\in\Omega\) is dense in \(\Omega\). Each continuous function \(f\) from \(\Omega\) to the open unit disk \(\mathbb{D}\) (sampling function) induces a sequence of Verblunsky coefficients \(\alpha_j=f(T^j\omega)\), and thus the family of extended CMV operators \(\{C_\omega(f)\}_{\omega\in\Omega}\). The spectrum \(\sigma(C_\omega(f))\) is known to be independent of \(\omega\). The main results of the paper claim the following. Theorem 1. There are dense \(G_\delta\) sets \(\mathcal{G},\mathcal{R}\) in \(C(\Omega, \mathbb{D})\) such that, for every \(\omega\in\Omega\) and \(f\in\mathcal{G}\) (\(f\in\mathcal{R}\)), the extended CMV operator has empty point spectrum (the spectrum of the extended CMV operator is a Cantor set). Theorem 2. There is a dense \(G_\delta\) set \(\mathcal{S}\) in \(C(\Omega, \mathbb{D})\) such that, for every \(\omega\in\Omega\) and \(f\in\mathcal{S}\), the spectrum of the extended CMV operator is a Cantor set of positive Lebesgue measure, and all spectral measures are purely absolutely continuous.
