The author deals with the second order evolution hemivariational inequality of the form \[ \begin{aligned} &\langle u''(t)+A(t,u'(t))+B(t,u(t))+\int_0^t C(t-s)u(s)\,ds-f(t), v\rangle+\\& \int_{\Gamma_C}g^0(x,t,\gamma u(t),\gamma u'(t),\gamma u(t),\gamma u'(t);\gamma v',\gamma v)\,d\Gamma\geq 0\;\forall v\in V, \;\text{for a.e.}\;t\in (0,T),\\ &u(0)=u_0,\;u'(0)=u_1, \end{aligned} \] where \(g^0\) is the generalized directional derivative of Clarke of a possibly nonconvex function \(g\), \(\gamma\) is a trace map, and \(\langle,\cdot,\rangle\) means a duality pairing between a Hilbert space \(V\) and its dual \(V^*\). This problem is a weak formulation of a dynamic frictional contact problem of viscoelasticity for materials with long memory. The considered hemivariational inequality is expressed as a second order evolution inclusion \[ u''(t)+A(t,u'(t))+B(t,u(t))+\int_0^t C(t-s)u(s)\,ds+F\big(t,u(t),u'(t)\big)\ni f(t) \] and a recent result on its unique solvability is used.
