The article under review deals with the classification of smooth weak Fano threefolds. Recall that a smooth weak Fano threefold is a smooth projective variety whose anticanonical bundle is big and nef. The classification of a smooth Fano threefold was completed by Fano, Iskovskih, Shokurov, Mori and Mukai. On the other hand, the full classification of smooth weak Fano threefold is open and only very special cases are clear. The authors deal with a special case. Let \(X\) be a smooth weak Fano threefold with Picard number \(2\). Assuming furthermore that \(|-K_X|\) is base-point-free, \(-K_X\) is big in codimension \(1\), and \(-K_X\) is primitive in the Néron-Sevri group of \(X\). Note that the above conditions imply that \(X\) appears as smooth central objects of Sarkisov links between terminal Fano varieties with Picard number one. Then, the author provides a finite list of all possible numerical invariants of \(X\). However, the geometric realization for several of these numerical cases still remains open.
