A fundamental two-fluid model for describing the dynamics of a plasma is the Euler-Poisson system, in which compressible ion and electron fluids interact with their self-consistent electrostatic force. Many famous nonlinear dispersive PDEs, such as Zakharov's equation, nonlinear Schrödinger equations, as well as KdV equations, can be formally derived from two-fluid models under various asymptotic limits. Global smooth electron dynamics were previously constructed in [\textit{Y. Guo}, Commun. Math. Phys. 195, No. 2, 249--265 (1998; Zbl 0929.35112)] due to dispersive effects of the electric field. In this investigation, the authors construct global smooth irrotational solutions with small amplitude for ion dynamics in the Euler-Poisson system. The organization of the article is as follows: in Section III, the authors investigate the relevant linear dispersive equation. In Section IV, they introduce a normal form transformation. In Section V, they get an estimate on the \(L^2\) of the \(X\) norm employing the energy method. In Section VI, the authors confirm and prove the relevant multiplier estimate needed in order to control the bilinear terms. Ultimately, in Section VII, they control the high integrability part of the norm, and conclude the analysis to acquire global solutions with small initial data presented in Theorem 1.1 of this article.
