Viscosity solutions to second order parabolic PDEs on Riemannian manifolds (Q637509)

The author investigates viscosity solutions of a second order parabolic equation of the form \(u_t=F(t,x,u,du,d^2u)=0\) with initial-boundary conditions given on a complete Riemannian manifold. Comparison, uniqueness and existence results are obtained. If the manifold has non-negative sectional curvature, some special deeper results are obtained under some additional assumptions. It is shown that analogous results are valid without assumptions on the curvature if \(F\) depends on \(d^2u\) in a uniformly continuous manner.
