For $\alpha>-1$ let $P_\alpha$ denote the Bergman projection on the space $L^2(D,dA_\alpha)$, where $D$ is the open unit disk and \[ dA_\alpha(z)=(\alpha+1)(1-|z|^2)^\alpha\,dA(z) \] is the weighted area measure. Here $dA$ is the normalized area measure on $D$. \par The main result of the paper is the following two-sided estimate for the norm of $P_\alpha$ on the space $L^p(D,dA_\alpha)$: \[ \frac{\Gamma((2+\alpha)/p)\Gamma((2+\alpha)/q)}{\Gamma^2((2+\alpha)/2)}\le\|P_\alpha\|_{p,\alpha}\le(\alpha+1)\frac{\Gamma((1+\alpha)/p) \Gamma((1+\alpha)/q)}{\Gamma^2((2+\alpha)/2)}, \] where $p>1$ and $1/p+1/q=1$.
