Let \(kG\) be the group algebra over a field \(k\) of a group \(G\) and \(H=kG[\chi,a,\delta]\) a Hopf-Ore extension of \(kG\) in the sense of \textit{A. N. Panov} [Math. Notes 74, No. 3, 401-410 (2003); translation from Mat. Zametki 74, No. 3, 425-434 (2003; Zbl 1071.16035)]. Here \(\chi\) is a character of \(G\), \(a\) is a central element of \(G\), \(\chi(a)\neq 1\), and \(\delta(g)=g(1-a)\alpha(g)\) for all \(g\in G\), where \(\alpha\) is 1-cocycle. Denote by \(H'\) a rank 1 quotient Hopf algebra of \(H\). It is shown that simple weight modules over \(H\) and \(H'\) are finite dimensional. There is given a classification of these modules and a decomposition of the tensor product of simple weight modules over \(H'\) into direct sum of finite dimensional weight indecomposables. Also in the category of weight \(H'\)-modules there are found all finite dimensional indecomposable projective objects. There is given a classification of rank 1 pointed Hopf algebras over an arbitrary field. This result generalizes previous results by \textit{L. Krop} and \textit{D. E. Radford} [J. Algebra 302, No. 1, 214-230 (2006; Zbl 1126.16028)], and by \textit{S. Scherotzke} [J. Algebra 319, No. 7, 2889-2912 (2008; Zbl 1149.16033)].
