A numerical method for singularly perturbed two-point boundary value problems (BVPs) for second-order ordinary differential equations is proposed. The authors first solve the BVPs by the exponentially fitted difference scheme on constant meshes and then apply the well-known booster method by \textit{M. Israeli} and \textit{M. Ungarish} [Numer. Math. 39, 309-324 (1982; Zbl 0489.65054)] to obtain an improved numerical solution. Examples are provided to show the efficiency of the present method.
