The authors study affine extensions of geometries of Petersen and of tilde type; thus the residue of an element of type 1 is either the geometry of edges and vertices of the Petersen graph or the 3-fold cover of the generalized \(Sp_4(2)\)-quadrangle. More precisely, they study the situation where the residue of a flag of type \(\{1,\ldots,n-3\}\) is either the unique Petersen geometry for the Mathieu group \(M_{22}\) or the unique \(T\)-geometry for \(M_{24}\).
