Let q(x) be a real-valued, uniformly almost periodic function in \({\mathbb{R}}\). If b\({\mathbb{R}}\) is the Bohr compactification of \({\mathbb{R}}\), the one-dimensional Schrödinger operator \(\ell =-d^ 2/dx^ 2+q(x)\) in \(L^ 2({\mathbb{R}})\) canonically gives rise to the one \(L=-D^ 2+Q(x)\) in the nonseparable Hilbert space \(L^ 2(b{\mathbb{R}})\) of the square integrable functions on b\({\mathbb{R}}\) with respect to the probabilistic Haar measure. The author exemplifies uniformly almost periodic potentials q(x) for which the spectrum of L contains at least one point which is not an eigenvalue. This result constrats with the case for periodic potentials [see \textit{M. Burnat}, Stud. Math. 25, 33-64 (1964; Zbl 0139.313)] in which the spectrum of L consists of only eigenvalues.
