Affine categories and naturally Mal'cev categories (Q1824683)

A Mal'cev operation on a set A is a ternary operation P which satisfies \(p(x,y,y)=x\) and \(p(x,x,y)=y\) for all \(x,y\in A\). The concept of a Mal'cev operation can be extended to that of a natural Mal'cev operation in any category with finite products. The main result is a characterization of categories which have a natural Mal'cev operation.
