A wide class of 2-D integrable dynamical systems \[ (*)\quad \partial /\partial z_+(g^{-1}\partial g/\partial z_-)=[X_-,g^{- 1}X_+g]_- \] associated via the Lax-type representation with the local part of an arbitrary Lie algebra \({\mathfrak g}\), is constructed. Here a \({\mathbb{Z}}\)-grading of \({\mathfrak g}(=\oplus_{m\in {\mathbb{Z}}}{\mathfrak g}_ m)\) is equipped with an arbitrary integer embedding of its s\(l(2)\) subalgebra with the basis \(\{H;X_{\pm}\}\), i.e. [H,\({\mathfrak g}_ m]_- =m{\mathfrak g}_ m\); \(g(z_{\pm})\) is a function on the Lie group with the Lie algebra \({\mathfrak g}_ 0\). In particular, the equations of this class describe the generalized Toda lattice, the cylindrically symmetric self- dual and monopole configurations of Yang-Mills fields for an arbitrary embedding of SU(2) in a gauge group, strings, etc. The general solutions of eqs. (*) in the sense of the Goursat problem are obtained explicitly in the framework of the algebraic method developed by the authors [Commun. Math. Phys. 74, 111-118 (1980; Zbl 0429.35063); Lett. Math. Phys. 6, 505-510 (1982)]. A method for constructing a wide class of \(\infty -D\) Lie algebras of finite growth has also been proposed. Not long ago the authors obtained [Preprint IHEP 84-59, Serpukhov, USSR (1984)] an integrable supersymmetric generalization of eqs. (*). The latter is related to an arbitrary Lie superalgebra, whose grading is realized by its osp(1,2) subsuperalgebra.
