The authors solve an interesting problem related to a long-standing open question of \textit{G. G. Gundersen} [Complex Variables, Theory Appl. 20, No. 1--4, 99--106 (1992; Zbl 0773.30032)]. They prove, in particular, the following theorem (Theorem 1). Let \(f\) and \(g\) be two distinct, non-constant meromorphic functions and let \(a_1,a_2, a_3\) and \(a_4\) be distinct values. If \(f\) and \(g\) share \(a_1,a_2, a_3\) ignoring multiplicities and if they share \(a_4\) counting multiplicities, then (i) \(f\) and \(g\) are of normal growth and (ii) \(f\) and \(g\) have the same order, where the order is a positive integer or it is infinity. From this result, they obtain several uniqueness theorems (cf. Theorem 2 and Theorem 3).
