The authors use hidden and convertible symmetries for solving a class of third order ODEs possessing two parameter Lie symmetry group by group theoretic means. Its reduction to quadratures is possible in two cases: \(1^0\). If after first reduction of order the obtained second order ODE possesses besides the inherited point symmetry at least one more new point symmetry which is called type II hidden symmetry. \(2^0\). After the first reduction of order the inherited point symmetry is the only point symmetry of the obtained second order DE, where a subsequent reduction leads to a first order equation with one known inherited point symmetry so that the initial third order equation may be solved.
