In the traditional reproducing kernel method for solving singular integral and integro-differential equations, the representation of the reproducing kernel function is usually complicated and the requirement for the image space of the operator is high. In this work, a technique is developed to modify the reproducing kernel method for solving Fredholm singular integro-differential equations with Cauchy kernel of the form \[ \mu(x)\phi'(x)+\lambda(x)\int_{-1}^1 \frac{\phi(y)}{y-x} dy=f(x),\quad |x|<1, \] with \(\phi(\pm1)=0\), where \(\lambda,\mu,f:[-1,1]\to\mathbb R\) are sufficiently smooth given functions, \(\int_{-1}^1 \frac{\phi(y)}{y-x} dy\) exists in the sense of the principal value, the unknown function \(\phi\in H\) and \(H\) is a new reproducing kernel space defined as follows: \(H=\{\phi:[-1,1]\to\mathbb R\mid \phi,\phi'\) are absolutely continuous and \(\phi''\in L^2([-1,1],\mathbb R), \phi(\pm1)=0\}\). For \(\phi,\eta\in H\), the inner product is defined as \[ (\phi,\eta)_H=\sum_{i=0}^1 \phi^{(i)}(-1)\eta^{(i)}(-1)+\int_{-1}^1\phi''(x)\eta''(x)dx \] and \(\|\phi\|_H=((\phi,\phi)_H)^{\frac12}\). The analytical representation of the exact solution is obtained in the form of a series in the new reproducing kernel space \(H\). It is shown that the approximate solution and its derivatives converge uniformly to the exact solution and its derivatives, respectively. Some numerical examples are discussed to illustrate the validity and applicability of the new method.
