Following \textit{A. M. Vershik} and \textit{E. I. Gordon} [St. Petersbg. Math. J. 9, No. 1, 49--67 (1998); translation from Algebra Anal. 9, No. 1, 71--97 (1997; Zbl 0898.20016)], a group \(G\) is called locally embeddable into finite groups (LEF) if each finite piece of its multiplication table can be found as a piece of the multiplication table of some finite group. The factorization property was introduced and studied by \textit{E. Kirchberg} [Math. Ann. 299, 551--563 (1994; Zbl 0805.46066)]. We shall not recall its definition but mention a result by Kirchberg: If \(G\) has Kazhdan's property (T), then \(G\) has the approximation property if and only if \(G\) is residually finite (i.e., if homomorphisms to finite groups separate points on \(G\)). In the article under review, an example of a group is given which is LEF and has property (T), but does not have the approximation property. This group is also initially subamenable, sofic and hyperlinear. The superordinate goal of the article is to clarify further the relations between the properties just mentioned (all definitions of which are recalled there). To this end, also an example of a hyperlinear group is given which is not initially subamenable. Moreover, attention is drawn to a mistake in Corollary 1.2 of Kirchberg's article mentioned above (concerning the implication (v) \(\Rightarrow\) (i)).
