Let \(M\) be a connected \(\mathcal C^\infty\) smooth abstract CR manifold of type \((n,k)\). In the paper, two theorems are proved. The first of them is the Malgrange theorem which was obtained by \textit{Ch. Laurent-Thiébaut} and \textit{J. Leiterer} [Nagoya Math. J. 157, 59--72 (2000; Zbl 0957.32017)] for the case where \(M\) is strictly 1-pseudoconcave and locally embeddable. The authors point out that strict 1-pseudoconcave is a local condition on \(M\), and again has nothing to do with the global shape of \(M\). The second theorem is an approximation theorem. Assume \(M\) is weakly pseudoconcave, of finite kind and not compact. Let \(U\Subset V\Subset M\) be two open sets such that \(V\setminus U\) has no compact connected component. Then, for \(0\leq p\leq n+k\), the restriction map \(Z^{p,n-1}(\overline V)\to Z^{p,n-1}(U)\) has dense image, with respect to the \(\mathcal C^\infty\) topology on \(U\).
