Eigenvalues of the manifold \(Sp(n)/U(n)\) (Q644661)

The authors investigate the eigenvalues of the symmetric space \(Sp(n)/U(n)\). They prove, that an eigenvalue \(\lambda_s(f_1, f_2,\dots, f_n)\) of \(Sp(n)\) corresponding to an irreducible representation of \(Sp(n)\) with labels \((f_1, \dots, f_n)\) is an eigenvalue of the symmetric space \(Sp(n)/U(n)\) iff \((f_1, \dots, f_n)\) are all even. This result is a generalization of a similar statement which was proved by the first author for \(Sp(2)\) and \(Sp(3)\) in 2002.
