The paper deals with protocols that improve welfare by encouraging online exchange. A simple, practicable and distributed method is proposed and analysed to incentivize trade in online environments using electronic tokens considering a simple setting that assumes identical agents, equally valuable files and lack of errors. The proposed approach can lead to results that are efficient, but sensitive to the choice of protocol.
