The paper studies the homogeneous Dirichlet problem \(-\mathrm{div} (a(x,\nabla u)=H(x,\nabla u)+f\) in \(\Omega \), \(u=0\) on \(\partial \Omega \), where \(\Omega \) is a bounded open subset of \(\mathbb R^N\). It is supposed that \(a: \Omega \times \mathbb R^N \to \mathbb R^N\) and \(H:\Omega \times \mathbb R^N \to R\) are Carathéodory functions which satisfy the ellipticity condition \(a(x,z)\cdot z \geq |z|^p\), the monotony condition \((a(x,z)-a(x,z'))\cdot (z-z') >0\), \(z\neq z'\), and the growth conditions \(|a(x,z)|\leq a_0 |z|^{p-1}+a_1\) with \(a_0,a_1>0\), and \(|H(x,z)|\leq h|z|^q\) with \(h>0\), \(1<p<N\), \(p-1<q\leq p\), for almost every \(x\in \mathbb R^N\), for every \(z,z' \in \mathbb R^N\). The function \(f\) is in a suitable Lorentz space. It is studied the dependence of the regularity of \(\nabla u\) on \(f\). It is also proved the comparison principle for a solution of the Dirichlet problem.
