A decomposition of the three-dimensional steady nonisentropic compressible Euler system for subsonic flows of perfect gases into a composite-mixed type system of hyperbolic and elliptic equations is given. The applications of that approach include existence, uniqueness and stability theory of spherically symmetric subsonic flows and transonic shocks. The analysis involves a nonlocal elliptic operator with a Ventsel type boundary condition.
