Let \(\mathrm{Cl}_{3}\) denote the \(8\)-dimensional Clifford algebra over the complex numbers with generators \(\gamma_{1},\gamma_{2}\) and \(\gamma_{3}\) satisfying the relations \(\gamma_{i}^{2}=1\) for all \(i\) and \(\gamma_{i}\gamma_{j} =-\gamma_{j}\gamma_{i}\) for all \(i\neq j\). This is a semisimple algebra with exactly two irreducible representations: the representation given by the Pauli matrices, and the representation obtained by taking the negatives of these matrices. Decoherence-free subspaces (DFS) are of importance in controlling errors in quatum spaces (see, for example [\textit{D. A. Lidar} et al., ``Decoherence-free subspaces for multiple-qubit errors. I. Characterization'', Phys. Rev. A (3) 63, No. 2, Article ID 022306 (2001; \url{doi:10.1103/PhysRevA.63.022306})]). In the present paper, the authors give a concrete method of constructing DFSs in the tensor powers \(\mathrm{Cl}_{3}\otimes\dots\otimes \mathrm{Cl}_{3}\) using the representation theory of algebras.
