Idempotent geometry in generic algebras (Q1990555)

This paper presents various new results that enlarge the classsification of commutative algebras over the real field, considering the class of generic algebras, that correspond to algebras containing the maximal possible finite number of idempotents. For the case of two dimensions, the authors propose a classification based on the properties of the mapping \(z\rightarrow z^2\) around the idempotents. The results are used to discuss a new and interesting relation with quadratic differential equations that relates idempotents with singular points of quadratic vector fields in the plane. The authors also comment on possible extensions and generalizations of the procedure.
