There are two purposes of this article about the Henon equation in dimension two. Firstly, it is proved that the Morse index \(m(u \alpha,n )\) is monotone non-decreasing with respect to \(\alpha\). Secondly, a lower bound for the Morse indices \(m(u \alpha,n )\) is found as \(\alpha\to\infty\). First, an important decomposition for some singular eigenvalue problems is recalled. The proofs use real analysis methods and Hilbert spaces.
