Let \(\omega\) be a Kähler form on a complex manifold \(X\). When \(\omega\) represents the first Chern class of an ample line bundle, the moduli space of Gieseker-semistable sheaves with fixed Chern classes on \(X\) can typically be constructed via Geometric Invariant Theory (GIT), thus providing a finite-dimensional, projective moduli space. In contrast, when dealing with arbitrary compact Kähler manifolds, such a global GIT construction is quite unlikely. Instead, one can study the symmetries induced by automorphism groups on universal deformation spaces and carry out a functorial local construction to provide local charts for the desired moduli space (or rather certain moduli stack). In this paper the authors show that the algebraic stack of \(\omega\)-semistable sheaves of rank two with given Chern classes admits a good moduli space that is a proper algebraic space (in the sense of \textit{J. Alper} [Ann. Inst. Fourier 63, No. 6, 2349--2402 (2013; Zbl 1314.14095)]). In particular, it yields a new construction of the Gieseker moduli space in the case when the polarization is given by an ample line bundle. In order to prove the result, the authors use an existence criterion for good moduli spaces of Artin stacks by \textit{J. Alper} et al. [Compos. Math. 153, No. 8, 1584--1609 (2017; Zbl 1403.14038)].
