The purpose of the authors is to show that \(\overline{\lambda_k}(\mathbb S^2,g)\), the \(kth\)-normalized eigenvalue associated to the Laplacian-Beltrami operator on the sphere \(\mathbb S^2\), is upper bounded by \(8\pi k\) (Theorem 1.2) and the proof is based on using induction on \(k\), and they deduce that \(\Lambda_k(\mathbb S^2):=\displaystyle\sup_{g}\overline{\lambda_k}(\mathbb S^2,g)=8\pi k\). Also, they suggest the following conjecture: \(\Lambda_k(\mathbb R\mathbb P^2)=4\pi(2k+1)\).
