The author considers a general form of the moment problem. Namely, given any sequence \((c_n)_{n\geq 0}\) of complex numbers, to find a Hilbert space \(H\) and two sequences \((x_n)_n, (y_n)_n\) is \(H\) such that \(c_{i+j}=\langle x_i,y_j\rangle\) for arbitrary \(i, j\). A more general form can be stated as follows: Does there exist a densely defined operator \(A\) and \(x, y \in H\) such that \(c_n=\langle A^nx,y\rangle\)? It is shown that the second problem always admits a solution and that in the case where the generating function \(\sum_nc_nz^n\) has a nonzero radius of convergence \(R\), the operator \(A\) can be chosen to be bounded on \(H\) and with arbitrary spectral radius \(r(A)\geq R\).
