Summary: We prove that a dense subset of limit periodic operators have spectra which are homogeneous Cantor sets in the sense of \textit{L. Carleson} [in: Harmonic analysis, Conf. in Honor A. Zygmund, Chicago 1981, Vol. 2, 349--372 (1983; Zbl 0527.46048)]. Moreover, by using work of \textit{I. E. Egorova} [Dokl. Akad. Nauk Ukr. SSR, Ser. A 1987, No. 3, 7--9 (1987; Zbl 0649.35069)], our examples have purely absolutely continuous spectrum. The construction is robust enough to extend the results to arbitrary \(p\)-adic hulls by using the dynamical formalism proposed by \textit{A. Avila} [Commun. Math. Phys. 288, No. 3, 907--918 (2009; Zbl 1188.47023)]. The approach uses Floquet theory to break up the spectra of periodic approximants in a carefully controlled manner to produce Cantor spectrum and to establish the lower bounds needed to prove homogeneity.
