The aim is to prove the existence of energy release rate components for cracks between two fairly general anisotropic media. A relationship between the energy release rate components and stress intensity factor is discussed. Classical plate theory is used to obtain the expressions for the energy release rate components. A closed-form solution for energy release rate components is obtained with one unknown mode mix-parameter. Finally, a procedure for determining this parameter is discussed, and some examples of laminates are discussed.
