Units of compatible nearrings. (Q646621)

Let \(R\) be a compatible nearring satisfying the descending chain condition on right ideals, and let \(G\) be a faithful compatible \(R\)-module. In this article under review, the group of units, \(U(R)\), is studied. The main tool is unit lifting. Namely, it is shown that given an \(R\)-ideal \(H\) of \(G\), and \(u\in R\) such that \(u+\mathrm{Ann}_R(G/H)\) is a unit of \(R/\mathrm{Ann}(G/H)\), there exists a unit \(v\in R\) such that \(v+\mathrm{Ann}_R(G/H)=u+\mathrm{Ann}_R(G/H)\). Then the units of \(1+\mathrm{Ann}_R(G/H)\) are determined for minimal \(R\)-ideal \(H\) of \(G\). Finally, using principal \(R\)-series for \(G\), the size of the units \(U(R)\) may be determined.
