Let D be the open unit disc, T its boundary, \(H^{\infty}\) the Banach algebra of all bounded analytic functions on D. An analytic subalgebra \({\mathcal A}\) is a closed subalgebra of \(H^{\infty}\). Identifying the elements of \(H^{\infty}\) with their boundary values one may regard analytic subalgebras as closed subalgebras of \(L^{\infty}(T).\) The author describes the structure of the maximal ideal space and proves a Corona type theorem for so called generalized analytic subalgebras. For a given analytic subalgebra \({\mathcal A}\) the associated generalized subalgebra \({\mathcal H}_{{\mathcal A}}\) is defined as the algebra of all continuous functions on D having nontangential-limits a.e. on T, such that the resulting boundary function is an element of \({\mathcal A}\).
