The authors cover much the same ground as in their earlier paper of the same title [see Commun. Algebra 29, No. 2, 519-527 (2001; Zbl 0989.20037)]. In both they are primarily concerned with the structure of certain hypercentral and FC-hypercentral groups. There they were interested in what they called quasi-irreducible groups; here they consider what they call almost irreducible groups. These concepts are sort of dual to each other. Let \(A\) be a vector space over the field \(F\) and \(G\) a subgroup of \(\text{GL}(A)\). The authors say \(G\) is almost irreducible if the following three conditions are satisfied: 1) If \(B\) is a non-zero \(FG\)-submodule of \(A\) then \(\dim F(A/B)\) is finite. 2) If \(B\) is a non-zero \(FG\)-submodule of \(A\) then \(C_G(A/B)\neq\langle 1\rangle\). 3) The intersection of the non-zero \(FG\)-submodules of \(A\) is zero.
