This short book can be regarded as an introduction to the theory of bounded linear operators on separable Hilbert spaces and von Neumann-Schatten ideals without assuming any deep functional analysis. It consists of three chapters and an appendix. The first chapter provides some basic facts on Hilbert spaces and their operators needed for understanding the rest of the book. The second chapter is devoted to an exposition of spectral theorems for self-adjoint and normal operators. Some types of operators such as compact, Hilbert-Schmidt, trace class and Fredholm operators are studied in the third chapter. Finally, some measure theory, including the Riesz representation theorem and Lusin's theorem, is given in appendix. The book is supplied by several useful exercises. The book is appropriate for graduate students in mathematics and for non-specialists.
