Let \(H_k\) be the space of all normalized holomorphic Hecke cusp forms of even weight k for the full modular group. For \(f \in H_k\), denote by \(L(s, \operatorname{sym}^2 f)\) the corresponding symmetric square \(L\)-function. The author proves a lower bound for all appropriately weighted even moments of \(L(1/2, \operatorname{sym}^2 f)\): Writing \(\omega_f = \frac{k-1}{2\pi^2} L(1, \operatorname{sym}^2 f)\), the author proves that, for every even positive integer \(r\), \[ \sum_{f \in H_k} \omega_f^{-1} L(1/2, \operatorname{sym}^2 f)^r \gg_r (\log k)^{r(r+1)/2} \] as \(k \to \infty\). This is conjecturally of the correct order of magnitude. A main ingredient in the proof is a theorem of \textit{D. Zagier} [Lect. Notes Math. 627, 105--169 (1977; Zbl 0372.10017)].
