The aim of this paper is to describe an approach to construct multi-soliton asymptotic solutions for essentially non integrable equations and analyze the type of wave collision. The general idea is demonstrated by the example of a generalization of Korteweg-de Vries (gKdV) equation with small dispersion in the cases of two and three waves. The author also discusses the phenomenon of non uniqueness that occurs in the framework of the weak description of a multi-soliton interaction. This paper is organized as follows : Section 1, is an introduction to the subject. In Section 2, the author constructs a solitary wave solution of the generalized Korteweg-de Vries equation: \[\frac{\partial u}{\partial t}+\frac{\partial g'(u)}{\partial x}+\varepsilon^2\frac{\partial^3 u}{\partial x^3}=0,\quad x\in\mathbb{R},\quad t>0,\] where \(g'(u)\equiv \frac{\partial g}{\partial u}\in\mathcal{C}^1(\mathbb{R}_+)\) and \(\varepsilon\ll1\). In Section 3, the author applies the weak asymptotic method to the case of two solitons. A generalization of the method to the case of three (or more) solitons is discussed in Section 4.
