The \(m\)-dissection of the power series \(P=\sum_{n=0}^\infty a_nq^n\) is the presentation of \(P\) as \(P = P_0+P_1+\cdots+P_{m-1}\), where \(P_k=\sum_{n=0}^\infty a_{mn+k}q^{mn+k}\). In this article, the authors prove two conjectures of \textit{M. D. Hirschhorn} [Ramanujan J. 2, 521--527 (1998; Zbl 0924.11005)] for the 4-dissection of \((q^2,q^3;q^5)_\infty/(q,q^4;q^5)_\infty\) and its reciprocal. In both cases, \(P_0\), \(P_1\), \(P_2\) and \(P_3\) have explicit representations as infinite products. The authors note that the 2- and 5-dissections have been computed earlier by other authors.
