The authors study a posteriori error estimates in energy norm for the Galerkin method with boundary elements to solve the singular integral equation of first kind \[ -\frac{1}{2\pi}\int_{\Gamma} \log|x-y|\Phi(y)ds_{y}=f, \] where \(\Gamma\) is a open subset of the boundary of domain \(\Omega\subseteq R^{2}\). For numerical experiments the authors analysis two examples: simple layer potential of the Laplace equation on \(\Gamma=(0,1)\); the exterior Navier-Lame problem with a special condition of radiation.
