The operad of rational singular chains of the little \(2\)-disk operad was shown to be formal by \textit{D. E. Tamarkin} [Lett. Math. Phys. 66, No. 1-2, 65--72 (2003; Zbl 1048.18007)] and by Kontsevich. Using Tamarkin's ideas, the author shows that the operad of rational chains on the framed little \(2\)-disk operad FLD is also formal. More precisely, there is a zig-zag of quasi-isomorphisms of operads in the category of chain complexes from this operad of chains to the operad BV obtained by taking the homology of FLD. This zig-zag is constructed via two more operads referred to as the operad of ``parenthesized ribbon braids'' and some operad \(\tilde t\) in the category of Lie algebras (or rather a suitable chain version associated to its enveloping algebra). These intermediate operads are themselves related via a Drinfeld associator by a result of \textit{D. Bar-Natan} [Sel. Math., New Ser. 4, No.2, 183--212 (1998; Zbl 0974.16028)]. As a consequence of this formality, the Hochschild cochain complex of a Frobenius algebra has a natural structure of a \(BV_\infty\)-algebra, where \(BV_\infty\) is a cofibrant resolution of \(BV\). The formality result stated in this paper has been established independently over the reals by \textit{J. Giansiracusa} and \textit{P. Salvatore} [Homotopy theory of function spaces and related topics. Proceedings of the Oberwolfach workshop, Mathematisches Forschungsinstitut Oberwolfach, Germany, April 5--11, 2009. Providence, RI: American Mathematical Society (AMS). Contemporary Mathematics 519, 115--121 (2010; Zbl 1209.18008)].
