Let \(\sigma(T)\) and \(\sigma_a(T)\) be the spectrum and the approximate point spectrum of a bounded linear operator \(T\) on a Banach space \(X\), respectively. An operator \(T\) is said to be an upper (resp., lower) semi-B-Fredholm operator if for some integer \(n\) the range \(R(T^n)\) is closed and \(T| R(T^n)\) is upper (resp., lower) semi-Fredholm. An operator \(T\) is said to be B-Weyl if it is upper and lower semi-B-Fredholm of index zero. Let \(SF_+^-(X)\) (resp., \(SBF_+^-(X)\)) be the set of all upper semi-Fredholm (resp., upper semi-B-Fredholm) operators of nonpositive index. Consider the spectra \(\sigma_W(T)=\{\lambda\in{\mathbb C}:T-\lambda I\) is not Weyl\(\}\), \(\sigma_{BW}(T)=\{\lambda\in{\mathbb C}:T-\lambda I\) is not B-Weyl\(\}\), \(\sigma_{SF_+^-}(T)=\{\lambda\in{\mathbb C}:T-\lambda I\notin SF_+^-(X)\}\), and \(\sigma_{SBF_+^-}(T)=\{\lambda\in{\mathbb C}:T-\lambda I\notin SBF_+^-(X)\}\). One says that \(T\) satisfies Weyl's theorem, generalized Weyl's theorem, \(a\)-Weyl's theorem, generalized \(a\)-Weyl's theorem if \(\sigma_W(T)=\sigma(T)\setminus E_0(T)\), \(\sigma_{BW}(T)=\sigma(T)\setminus E(T)\), \(\sigma_{SF_+^-}(T)=\sigma_a(T)\setminus E_0^a(T)\), and \(\sigma_{SBF_+^-}(T)=\sigma_a(T)\setminus E^a(T)\), respectively, where \(E(T)\) is the set of all isolated eigenvalues in \(\sigma(T)\) and \(E_0(T)\subset E(T)\) is the subset of all isolated eigenvalues in \(\sigma(T)\) of finite multiplicity. The sets \(E^a(T)\) and \(E_0^a(T)\) are defined similarly with \(\sigma_a(T)\) in place of \(\sigma(T)\). The author shows that if all isolated eigenvalues of \(T\) are poles of its resolvent and if \(T\) satisfies Weyl's theorem, then it also satisfies generalized Weyl's theorem. An analogue of this result for \(a\)-Weyl's and generalized \(a\)-Weyl's theorems is also obtained. Applications of these results to so-called polariod (in particular, to paranormal) operators are considered.
