The authors establish sufficient conditions for the existence of solutions to the following scalar discrete nonlinear multipoint boundary value problem: \[ y(t+n)+a_{n-1}(t)y(t+n-1)+\dots+a_{0}(t)y(t)=g(y(t+m-1))\tag{*} \] subject to \[ \sum_{j=1}^{n}b_{ij}(0)y(j-1)+ \sum_{j=1}^{n}b_{ij}(1)y(j)+ \sum_{j=1}^{n}b_{ij}(2)y(j+1)+\dots+ \sum_{j=1}^{n}b_{ij}(N)y(j+N-1)=0 \] for \(i=1,2,\dots,n.\) It is assumed that \(g\) is a continuous real-valued function defined on \({\mathbb R}\), that \(m\) is fixed and belongs to \(\{1,2,\dots,n\},\) and that the integer \(N >2\). The coefficients \(b_{ij}\) and the functions \(a_{0},a_{1},\dots,a_{n-1}\) are all real-valued and \(a_{0}(t)\neq 0\) for all \(t\). An example is considered to show that the obtained results extend previous works [see \textit{D. L. Etheridge} and \textit{J. Rodriguez}, J. Differ. Equations Appl. 4, No. 2, 127--144 (1998; Zbl 0910.39002); Appl. Anal. 62, No. 1--2, 119--137 (1996; Zbl 0857.39004)].
