The Standard Scheme is a scheme for the computation of the true longitude and node of the Moon based on a Babylonian zigzag model. The author studies the relation between the Standard Scheme and Greek models based on epicycles. The mean Moon derived from the Standard Scheme nearly coincides with the Ptolemaic mean Moon when adjusted for Precession by Theon's model of Precession. This points at a common background of Theon's model and the Standard Scheme as for the sidereal longitudes. The author offers arguments that support the thesis that the Standard Scheme was invented by Hipparchus or a contemporary.
