The main theorem of the paper says that any right-angled Artin group admits a quasi-isometric group embedding into a right-angled Artin group defined by the opposite graph of a tree. The theorem has numerous interesting corollaries which include: (1) Every right-angled Artin group admits quasi-isometric group embeddings into the following groups: (a) a pure braid group \(P_n\) for some \(n\); (b) the group of area-preserving diffeomorphisms (symplectomorphisms) of the unit \(2\)-disk that are the identity in a neighborhood of the boundary endowed with the \(L^p\)-metric for \(1\leq p \leq \infty\); (c) the area-preserving diffeomorphism group of the unit \(2\)-sphere with the \(L^p\)-metric for \(2< p \leq \infty\). (2) Every two-generated subgroup of a right-angled Artin group is either abelian or free. (3) A special group (in the sense of Haglund and Wise) admits a quasi-isometric group embedding into a pure braid group. (4) For each \(n \geq 2\), there exists an \(n\)-dimensional closed hyperbolic manifold whose fundamental group admits a quasi-isometric group embedding into a pure braid group. (5) For sufficiently large \(n\), the isomorphism problem for the finitely presented subgroups of the planar braid group \(B_n\) is unsolvable, and there exists a finitely presented subgroup \(H< B_n\) for which the memebrship and conjugacy problems are unsolvable. Some of these results were proved before using different methods or stated as open problems. In particular, the related references include [\textit{J. Crisp} and \textit{B. Wiest}, Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 359, No. 11, 5485--5503 (2007; Zbl 1186.20027); \textit{M. Kapovich}, Geom. Funct. Anal. 22, No. 3, 733--755 (2012; Zbl 1262.53070); \textit{M. R. Bridson}, Math. Res. Lett. 20, No. 2, 203--212 (2013; Zbl 1428.20037)]. The paper is short and well written.
