Im Anschluß an die Arbeit von \textit{J. W. Thompson} ``The introduction of Arabic science into Lorraine in the tenth century'' (Isis 12 (1929), 184-193; F. d. M. \(55_{\text{II}}\), 622) wird auseinandergesetzt, daß die Schulen Lotharingiens im 10. Jahrhundert nach Christus die ersten Pflegestärten arabischer Wissenschaft, insbesondere der Mathematik und Astronomie, in Mittel- und Westeuropa nördlich der Pyrenäen waren.
