The authors are considered with the application of the queueing network model to load balancing in distributed systems. The method is useful as a tool for resource allocation and capacity planning in distributed systems and as a promising complement to dynamic policies in hybrid load balance strategies. The success of the method demonstrates that, from a performance point of view, the queueing network model is of product form type and the local minimum is a global minimum. The numerical results demonstrates the efficacy of the method.
