In the paper, families of affine supertropical varieties are studied in terms of their coordinate semirings. The tropical dimension is defined and this matchs the intuitive definition obtained from simplicial complexes. Since the intersection of tropical varieties need not be a tropical variety, even for planar curves, the authors restrict the class of permissible congruences defining new algebraic sets. In fact, they consider two supertropical alternatives based upon pure algebraic considerations, namely the Zariski density of the algebraic structure of the coordinate semiring of an affine supertropical algebraic set in connection with the dimension of an affine variety, and, the second approach is based upon the layered structure and it is given in the appendix. The definitions and results are interesting, but they ask too many new notions and notations to be quoted.
