Following ideas of Z. Pawlak and E. Orlowska for approximation spaces (ASs), the model of an AS is extended and some properties of the generalized ASs are studied. The research is based on axiomatic fuzzy set theory (introduced by the second author) and EI-algebras (introduced by the second author and W. Pedrycz). Some interesting properties of these concepts are studied and applied to AS and fuzzy clustering. The ideas and results are well illustrated.
