An operator on \(\ell ^2\) is called a Schur operator if it is bounded on both \(\ell ^{1}\) and \(\ell ^{\infty }\). The set of all Schur operators forms an algebra and it is known that this algebra is not inverse-closed. Let \(X\) be a metric space. If \(\ell ^{2} = \ell ^{2}(X)\), one may consider elements of the Schur algebra with certain decay at infinity. In this connection, \textit{Q.-Y.\thinspace Sun} [Trans.\ Am.\ Math.\ Soc.\ 359, No.\,7, 3099--3123 (2007; Zbl 1131.47013)] has proved that, if \(X\) has the doubling property, then the weighted Schur algebra \(\mathcal A_{\omega }(X)\) for a strictly polynomial weight \(\omega\), is an inverse-closed algebra. In the paper under review, the author proves a sharp result on left-invertibility of the these operators. Specifically, if an operator \(\mathcal A \in A_{\omega }(X)\) satisfies \(\|Af\|_p \succeq \|f\|_p\), for some \(1 \leqslant p \leqslant \infty \), then it admits a left-inverse in \(\mathcal A_{\omega }(X)\). The main difficulty here is to obtain the above inequality in \(\ell ^{2}\). The paper was motivated by [\textit{A.\,Aldroubi, A.\,Baskakov} and \textit{I.\,Krishtal}, J.~Funct.\ Anal.\ 255, No.\,7, 1667--1691 (2008; Zbl 1155.42007)].
