This book provides an overview of the literature on logical systems that deal with preferences, changes in preference and entanglement of preference and belief. Part I takes as starting point the seminal work of von Wright and gives an overview of how issues related to preferences have been dealt with in different fields, such as computer science, economics, game theory, logic and philosophy. Part II reviews epistemic logic, public announcement logic and dynamic epistemic logic. Part III studies preference relations over possible worlds and deals with both static logics and dynamic logics as well as the entanglement of preference, knowledge and belief. Part IV switches the focus from preferences over states of affair to preferences over objects. Once again, both the static and the dynamic approaches are reviewed. Part V draws a comparison between the approaches of Parts III and IV, connects them and attempts to integrate them. Part VI discusses applications to deontic logic and game theory.
